What is the course about?

This qualification aims to provide the learner with an understanding of the different types of diabetes and how these occur. The learners will also develop awareness of how the onset of type two diabetes can be delayed with lifestyle changes. Through the course, learners will also develop an understanding of diabetes diagnosis, initial care, ongoing care and the treatment of diabetes used to control blood sugar levels.

What will be studied?

This course is split into two parts consisting of four units:

Part A:

• Unit one: Understanding diabetes
• Unit two: Prevention and early intervention of type two diabetes

Part B:

• Unit three: Understanding the initial care of diabetes
• Unit four: Understanding the treatment and management of diabetes
